Cabinet Order for the Council for Science and Technology Policy The Cabinet hereby enacts this Cabinet Order pursuant to the provisions of Article 36 of the Act for Establishment of the Cabinet Office (Act No. 89 of 1999). (Expert Advisors) Article 1 (1) The Prime Minister may, after hearing opinions of the Council for Science and Technology Policy (hereinafter referred to as the "Council"), assign expert advisors to the Council when it is necessary to have them investigate technical matters. (2) Expert advisors are to be appointed by the Prime Minister from among persons who have the relevant expertise and experience in the relevant scientific or technical matters. (3) Expert advisors are to be dismissed when the investigation on the scientific or technical matters to which they were appointed has been completed. (4) Expert advisors serve part-time. (Expert Examination Committee) Article 2 (1) The Council may establish an expert examination committee by adopting a resolution. (2) Persons are to be assigned to an expert examination committee from among expert advisors by the chairperson of the Council; provided, however, that the chairperson, when they find it necessary, may appoint a member of the Council as a person to be assigned to the expert examination committee. (3) An expert examination committee is to be abolished when the investigation for which it was established has been completed. (Administrative Affairs) Article 3 The administrative affairs of the Council are to be handled by the Director General for Policy Planning assigned in the Cabinet Office. (Miscellaneous Provision) Article 4 In addition to what is provided for in this Cabinet Order, the procedure for meetings and other necessary matters concerning the administration of the Council are to be determined by the chairperson, after consultation with the Council. Supplementary Provisions This Cabinet Order comes into effect from the date on which the Act for Partial Revision of the Cabinet Act (Act No. 88 of 1999) (January 6, 2001) comes into effect.
