Act on Era Names
Act No. 43 of June 12, 1979
(1)Era names are prescribed by Cabinet Order.
(2)Era names are altered only when there has been a succession to the Imperial Throne.
Supplementary Provisions
(1)This Act comes into effect as of the date of promulgation.
(2)The Showa era name is deemed to be determined under paragraph (1) of the main provisions of this Act.
